The October 18, 2020 Guinean Presidential election results indicate that presidential candidate Cellou Dalein Diallo is the winner of the Guinean presidency with 58.77% of the votes. The incumbent, President Alpha Conde,’ came in 2nd in the nation-wide voting with 38.40% of the votes. Despite this outcome, Conde’ is using his government machinery to influence the electoral commission with money to overturn the results in his favor.

This, as Colonel Rick Orth – Retired predicted, will turn into bloodshed that could easily reach genocide proportions with deaths exceeding 100 thousand. The entire nation is either locked down or in disbelief that Conde’ may not step down once again. Colonel Orth is a former Foreign Area Officer for Africa and has monitored genocides in the past including Rwanda.
On October 8, 2020, US Secretary of State Pompeo warned President Condé that the United States would closely monitor the presidential elections (refer to US Department of State Press Release, dated Oct 8, 2020, “Upcoming Elections in Africa”), and on October 15, 2020 the US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs called President Conde’ warning him of repercussions if the elections were not conducted in a fair and democratic manner. In their warnings, they stated that the elections must be transparent with a peaceful transition of power or there would be consequences to individuals who interfere. Sanctions will be imposed on the top Condé paramilitary and military leaders, his advisors and cabinet members and include visa revocations, freezing international bank accounts and indictments for human rights violations and crimes against humanity. Conde’ appears to be ignoring these warning.
